Learning Not To Bore a Jury: Lawyers Say Acting Classes Help Performance

Since taking Drake's acting courses, the attorney says he has come to think of the courtroom as a theater-in-the-round, and every case as having its own story--complete with a beginning, a middle and an end.

"I have an overall emotional theme that I want, and an overall content theme," he says. "When I develop an argument, I know what emotion I want from the audience."

"My object in ever single case is to pick out the one thing that communicates the entire essence of the case."

Still he adds, "If you don't take risks, you're never going to get anywhere."
